I see a lot more Hummers, Mercedes, Lexus, BMW and Powerstroke diesels on the road than practical, economical vehicles, these people must be paying for these road monsters somehow. Does anyone see any 3br ranches being built in Su.Co.? How about McMansions? Actions seem to drown out words! There is no middle class Americans anymore, only the Haves and the Have-Mores! (G.W.Bush boasted)

: 11/1/2009

Here we go again. High unemployment one can't help but think of the "thrilling days of yesteryear" and Jimmy "peanut" Carter. Don't panic......Lord Obama will save the day.

: 11/1/2009

Eddie, damn right he will.

It's smoke and mirrors. Keep spending, borrowing from China, de-value the dollar more than the 16% drop this year. It's Obamanomics. How this hope and change working for ya?

realist

: 11/1/2009

The people who think there has been some improvement don't know any better, or don't know anything about how economics work. GDP growth anyone?

: 11/1/2009

Think maybe if we privatize our Air Force, Marines, Army, Navy, police forces, fire departments, road crews, immigration departments and National Guard that we could downsize our governmant, lower taxes and create a free enterprise system that would cost less for these services because of the increased competition?

: 11/1/2009

It appears that some would rather worship Obama than God. No wonder we're in such a mess! Pretty scary that people trust an individual whose ego may just be the only thing bigger than our deficit! At least Bush wasn't a total Narcissist!

: 11/1/2009

Are any of libs brave enough to admit that this administration is the worst and nothing they have done has worked, and added to debt. "There are none so blind as those who will not see" please open your eyes and look around you we are sinking in debt and despair. you only have just a few days vote corzine out.

imright

: 11/1/2009

No matter what spin BO & Co. put on it, we will continue to bleed jobs until the business sector re-centers itself to current conditions. The libs can't spend our way out of an unavoidable correction.

Another Disgusted Taxpayer

: 11/2/2009

Vote for Chris Christie tomorrow! Let's get NJ back on the right track again; don't let this state become a 'welfare' state!! We can't afford to support any more people.

: 11/2/2009

Here we go Corzine...here we go!!

: 11/2/2009

GDP in the last quarter was POSITIVE 3.5%....i think there's some improvement....jeeezzz.

econ

: 11/2/2009

I started investing when the market was at its nadir. Most of my mutual funds are up 75% for the year... I think that is at least some improvement. However, the lagging indicator will always be job growth...So let's wait sometime and then re-evaluate the jobless rate and then we can judge the effectiveness of Obama's stimulus package and if the economy has recovered.

: 11/2/2009

The reason why the stock market is positive, is because the earnings companies are reporting have been good. They have learned to do with less employees, cut their payrolls and reduced total operating expense. There is no other reason for the market to be up.People are still not spending money. If the goverment continues to spend money at the current out of control rate, there is no way this country can sustain it. Come March or April the market could hit levels lower than we saw this past year. Start thinking about locking in your gains at the end of the year. The dollar is shrinking in value and the goverment is printing more new money every day. The shrinking dollar is going to affect all of us. Foreign countries are already turning their nose to the US dollar and it may no longer be the world standard currency. If that happens this country is in big trouble. The one thing is for sure, with the current debt and growing, our children and grandchildren will never enjoy the standard of living we did.

Glen D.

: 11/2/2009

Glen, that is all speculation. I've have many reports to the contrary.

: 11/3/2009

Bush, not a narcissist? I recall the words in 2001 while he was attending a fundraiser, "I'm here with my kind of people, the Haves and the Have-Mores." Then I recall the words in 2004 after a fairly narrow victory over Kerry, "Now I have clout." And will anyone ever forget, "I'm the decider?" This economy and narcissim did not start 01/20/09.

: 11/3/2009

I agree. How isn't Bush a narcissist?! Some of the comments on this board are really outrageous.

I think the NJ Herald answered this poll question with this article they posted: http://www.njherald.com/story/news/03Economy

: 11/3/2009

Bush was able to handle criticism with dignity and grace. Obama simply with not stand any opposing opinions! He'd rather be worshiped any obeyed!! What good has he done? Do you really believe that he is a savior for this nation? Why do you hate Bush so much? At least he had the backbone to stand up to our enemies that would love nothing more than destroy our freedom! If you want to blame anyone for the economy, blame Congress!!!!

: 11/3/2009

VOTE FOR CHRIS CHRISTIE!!

: 11/3/2009

Why do I hate Bush? Are you serious? All the crap he put this country through for 8 years! Bush's policy of "you are either with us or against us" is not a strong policy, it is a stupid policy that alienates other countries from helping us...Let me turn around the question to you, why do you hate Obama so much! - because of what Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity says each day???

J.Q.

: 11/3/2009

JQ - you obviously listen to and watch GB, SH, RHL, Fox, and haven't learned a thing yet. You posted that Bush allegedly alienated other countries. Which countries are you referring to and have they kissed and made up with us since the man-child took office. He's inexperienced, a child, narcissitic, immature, anti-American, and operates his administration like Al Capone. Some countries in Eurpore are now starting to implement a democratic type government and eliminate the socialism and he's got us going the other way. Name one, only one, accomplishment that Obama has done since January.

realist

: 11/3/2009

Well, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity do make sense. Obama is more concerned about pleasing our "allies" than keeping US SAFE! President Bush was handed a mess from the Clinton years. Why isn't that ever discussed. Bush certainly was not perfect, but he was far better on defense than Obama is. At least I felt safe with Bush in office. I don't anymore! Perhaps the democrats need to stop worshiping Obama and see him for what he really is. A major spender and weak on defense. Unemployment just continues to rise, yet keep praising Obama! By the way, what crap did Bush put us through for 8 years? No attacks since 9/11? HMMM

: 11/3/2009

Ah yes, another nut-job with memory problems. Not only was 9/11 on Bush's watch but so was the terrorist act in the form of Anthrax mailed to people. That's right, you keep trying to gloss over things, we will remind how wrong you are. .... ....Realist, here's a few more then just one thing Obama has accomplished........ The Recovery Act, expansion of the definition of hate crimes, he's engaged Iran in dialogue, the signing of the Lily Ledbetter Act, and best of all He Won The Nobel Peace Prize! Did Bush? Oh that's right, no he didn't.

Next!

: 11/3/2009

Oh HMMM, you say Bush was handed a mess from Clinton? What are you smoking? Here's just a few FACTS to prove you wrong. I have many more if you can get your head out of your butt long enough to read them............. A side-by-side analysis of two presidents in the last seven months of their eight-year presidencies....... Jan 2000 Clinton creates 249,000 jobs vs. Jan 2008 Bush loses 76,000....... Feb 2000 Clinton creates 121,000 jobs vs. Feb 2008 Bush loses 83,000....... March 2000 Clinton creates 472,000 jobs vs. March 2008 Bush loses 88,000........ April 2000 Clinton creates 286,000 jobs vs. April 2008 Bush loses 67,000........ May 2000 Clinton creates 225,000 jobs vs. May 2008 Bush loses 47,000...... June 2000 Clinton loses 46,000 jobs vs. June 2008 Bush loses 51,000........ July 2000 Clinton creates 163,000 jobs vs. July 2008 Bush loses 51,000..........Budget..... Clinton moved from record deficits to record $236 billion surplus....Bush moved from record surplus to record $331 billion deficit. ................Job Growth.......... Clinton lowest unemployment rate in 30 years...Bush....... Highest unemployment rate in nine years.

Fed up with idiots.

: 11/3/2009

Why is it that the Dems seem to support Obama with the most childish responses. 9/11 happened 9 mos. after Bush took office. That's because the Clinton administration ignored the warning signs. I'm not an idiot or a nut job. I am big enough to take your ridiculous name calling, though. As a christian, I feel the need to pray for you. I'm sorry to bring out such anger, but I simply to not believe that Obama has done any good for this nation. Regarding the Nobel Peace Prize...that's a joke!!! He didn't do ANYTHING to earn it! Our men and women serving in the military should be those recognized for their efforts toward peace! They (and their families) have sacrificed so much for our safety and freedom. Please, find a better way to channel your anger and stop bashing those of us that do not support a president that is rapidly working to dismantle our Republic!

: 11/3/2009

Recovery Act???? We are in so much debt now....Our children's children will not be able to pay our national debt!

: 11/3/2009

Lets see since Bush who added trillions to the debt OBAMA did fed up Idiot

imright

: 11/3/2009

Wow, nothing like some facts and truth to get people clutching their pearls. Poor imright is so befuddled he/she can't even write a readable sentence. Look HMM or Hmm-ever, the facts are out there. You can twist things and use non-logic like Bush only being in the Whitehouse 9 months before 9/11, especially since Obama just passed that mark and he has been thrown under the bus from the right wing nuts for everything, but it doesn't make it real. And I dare you to compare what Obama has or hasn't done in your mind with 9/11. Just try. I have no anger issue, thank you, I'm just what I said, FED UP with the spreading of hate and lies. Bush still took a surplus and turned it into a deficit, plain and simple. A deficit that Obama inherited and yes added to but by the way the right talks, the whole thing is blamed on him, making no sense. As for your prayers, please save them for our fine men and women in the military. They need them more then I do. They are the ones on the front lines in unwinnable wars started by Bush based on lies and fear with countries that had nothing to do with 9/11. Especially say prayers for all those thousands that died AFTER Bush parachuted down (costing us millions) and declared Mission Accomplished, yet another Bush lie.

Stll Fed Up

: 11/3/2009

It seems as though Fed up is ok w/the lies that were made about Bush, but not about Obama! That's hypocrisy! Let's remember that Terrorists were responsiblr for 9/11. What do you propose that Bush should have done? Wait and see...like Obama with Afghanistan? And I do pray for our men & women in the military, but I will still pray for you. God is certainly big enough to care for all of His children. If we all obeyed and worshiped just Him, we would not be in the mess we are in now! As far as the financial problems we face, how has Obama's stimulus funds worked? I thought his stimulus was going to create jobs? If so, then why does unemployment continue to rise? It's time that the Obama administration stops the rhetoric "we inherited". Americans want to go to work and earn their own money! We don't want government handouts!!! Where are those shovel ready jobs anyway? And regarding unwinnable? wars, with that mentality, we really are in trouble! It's a good thing that our forefathers didn't think that way generations ago!!!

: 11/3/2009

Thank you very much to the person answering back to fed up, I could not have said it better. Amen

imright

: 11/3/2009

Okay, I'll make this real simple.....I don't like lies, any lies about anyone, period. Yes, terrorists were responsible for 9/11 but none of them were in Iraq or had anything to do with Iraq. The war in Afghanistan is another war stated in 2001, under Bush's reign. You say Obama is taking a wait and see attitude but Bush started it then ignored it for 8 years so yeah, now, Obama must clean up another one of his messes. Bush knew it would never be winnable and yes, some wars are, look at Vietnam, so he just let it be for the next guy. Same with the banks and mortgage companies. You don't want handout fine, don't ever go on welfare, stop paying into social security, don't use Medicare when you are older and don't ever look for tax breaks. Again, I don't need your prayers. I'm a Christian. I'm just not the zealous , my thinking is the only way type. I recognize others and their beliefs. Try it sometime. Have a good night.

: 11/3/2009

I guess liberating women and children in Afghanistan was a waste of time? I guess that's a terrible mess that Obama must clean up? I'm not an over zealous christian with a one minded mentality. I just prefer that God not be removed from every aspect of our society. I do respect others beliefs, but I will not allow them to intrude on mine. As far as Bush, what exactly did he ignore? I'm confused! Now regarding the banks and mortgage companies...Bush did warn Congress (Dems) about Freddie & Fannie. What did they do? Talk about ignoring! I thank you for your kind wishes and pray for peace. You're very welcome, imright! :)

: 11/3/2009

There may be a sliver of hope on the horizon but signs that things are improving are based, in part, on an illusion. The "strengthening" of the economy is due to stimulus and cheap credit from the Federal Reserve. GDP may be up, but so too is unemployment and debt. You can print all the money you want (which leads to inflation) and hand it out like there's no tomorrow, but that won't increase production. It's time to audit - and eventually - end the Federal Reserve and restore the free market. Central economic planning was not worked and never will. Until we come to our senses about this, we will never have true economic prosperity.

: 11/3/2009

Congrats to you Christie supporters - i am not a supporter of him by any means, but I hope he does turn NJ around.

J.Q.

: 11/3/2009

Olivia from J-Town, I don't know what reports you are reading and I hope I am wrong, but I don't see it that way. If you have any knowledge of economics, this whole scheme of goverment increasing the debt. to levels we have never seen is not the answer. Taxes are going to go up on all of us, there is going to be less spendable income and the unemployment rate is not going away soon.Put all this together with a goverment that wants to redistribute wealth, it does create a positive atmosphere for bus. My advisor called me and wants to review my position prior to Jan 1st.

Glen D.

: 11/4/2009

Much of the improvement is from the government stimulus. Will things look like their improving once this spending winds down?

Alric

: 11/4/2009

Corzine told Jerseyites his whole term that NJ was spending more than it had ,cut benefits to workers and even school principles,he unsuccessfully tried to get transients to contribute to NJ's deficit via turnpike tolls to many Jerseyites delight. Now like Obama, lets give Christie 10 months to make it all better. I wish him luck and success,I do not think he has the talent, nor the desire to get it done.

: 11/4/2009

Typical lib behavior. Never be accountable for your actions. It's always someone else's fault and someone else SHOULD PAY!!! It's this continued, ignorant thought process that is destroying this country.

realist

: 11/4/2009

The only thing Bush accomplished during his 2 terms was to make fatcats fatter. His taxcuts for his so-called "movers and shakers" started and created the deficit we are now trying to recover from. Bush withdrew troops from Afganistan to invade Iraq, let binLaden escape and plot. He totally destroyed the coalitionof countries his father worked so hard to establish. Rumsfeld botched Iraq and Afganistan with Bush's approval until Rumsfeld cost him the majority in the House and Senate. Bush had control of the White House, the Senate, the House and the Supreme Court for 6 years and did nothing to outlaw abortion. He squandered the support of every nation after the 9/11 attack on our homeland. He was warned by Clinton about binLaden, but "thought it was just a briefing." The man failed,he is a failure. He failed the Texas Rangers,he bankrupted the oil company he was gifted,he divided this country,he failed his sobriety test,he failed to complete his obligation to our National Air Guard. From my perspective the only thing he ever succeded at was to get elected.

: 11/4/2009

CHRIS CHRISTIE WON!!! Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm! Now this is hope and change to look forward to.

realist

: 11/4/2009

That's funny...Bush failed a sobriety test. Talk about cheap shots and digging deep to find a way to criticize someone. Bush failed? He divided this country? I don't think so. He stood up to our enemies! By the way, CLINTON let Bin Laden get away! Not Bush!!! Get your facts straight! Bush was the only leader to have the backbone to stand up to the terrorists! And as far as abortion...it's all his fault that Liberals are all for partial birth abortions??? Why don't you speak to Obama and Pelosi about that.

: 11/4/2009

To the comment above mine - you honestly do not think Bush divided the country and the world from us? Were you living in a cave for 8 years??? However, I do agree with you that you cannot blame Bush for abortion. That is totally a liberal position and if you are against abortion, dems are responsible for that.

Hannah

: 11/4/2009

Finally!, a glimmer of hope and reason to stick it out in NJ a bit longer. Hopefully, those of us that bust our butts caring for ourselves as well as those on the 'change train' who aren't, will get a bit of a reprieve!

: 11/4/2009

I have read from the Bush Bashers and Obama bashers. So, now in NJ we have made a change. Will we give Christie more time than we have given Obama? I, for one, do NOT believe for one minute our taxes will be reduced. And until I see a definitive plan I will continue that belief. How about just cleaning up the corruption and trying to get a budget that works. I do believe, tho, that the people have spoken. Good for them

Slim Shady

: 11/4/2009

The Bush tax cuts reduced taxes for all.More people paid $0 income taxes under President Bush's tax plan than in the past. I make a moderate income and I saved. So get off the kick only the rich got the tax breaks.

Shaun W.

: 11/4/2009

This should be fun around here in the next few months as we jump from the pan into the fire. Thinking there will be tax breaks for all and more jobs? Well good luck with that. All we have now is just another lame duck. Watch and see. No substance = no change. Oh and for the person that talked about Bush "liberating" women and children in Afghanistan....if be liberating you mean getting them addicted to Opium in record numbers, then you are correct. Not to mention less schools, health care and more civilian deaths Yup, I bet they are dancing with joy there

: 11/4/2009

Alrightly, exactly next year when Christie has had 10 or so months in office, we will re-examine whether NJ is better although this is in no way the same as assessing Obama at this stage since Obama is in charge of the entire nation let alone a small state like NJ

: 11/4/2009

To those not old enough to remember inflation, interest rates of 18% etc well hold on gang.....it's coming.

eddie

: 11/4/2009

Eddie, you have it right on. Carter printed money to cover his excissive spending and increased the money supply by 20%. Inflation went through the roof and the fed. increased the intrest rates to 20 % to pull the money back in. So far to cover Obama's spending the money supply has been increased 120%. We haven't seen anything yet. This is going to implode around us and it's not going to be pretty!!!

Glen D.

: 11/4/2009

To those of you that are already willing to bash Chris Christie...do you like living in doom and gloom all of the time? Or, are you just so angry that Corzine didn't get re-elected? One question...if Obama is so great, why did his 4 visits to NJ (a blue state) result in failure for Corzine? I guess the residents of NJ have had enough! We have haven't had a Republican as governor for about 12 yrs. I guess that's why NJ is such a huge mess right now. That's why those of us that support Christie are excited! Give the man a chance. I mean, talk about inheriting a disaster????!!!!!

: 11/4/2009

So, Bush got Afghan women and children addicted to Opium. That's a new one! I can't even feel offended by your ridiculous remarks. And no Hannah, I have not been living in a cave for 8 yrs. To be honest, I really don't care about how warm and fuzzy the rest of the world feels about us. Do you really think that our "allies" have our best interest at heart?

: 11/4/2009

Christie is going to have a tough job ahead of him. He has to deal with the liberals in Trenton who have created this mess in this state for years and that is not going to be easy. It's going to take a long time to change the coruption that has taken place for years by self serving politicians. He deserves our support.

Lori C.

: 11/4/2009

Yes, Bush got them addicted to Opium. ( that's dripping with sarcasm BTW ) ( oh and BTW stands for By The Way)...You said he liberated them, I replied that he caused them many more problem, contrary to "your definition" of liberating there. If you couldn't figure that out, well then I give up, plus explaining stuff word by word bores me. Sorry if you feel everything written needs to be literal and spelled out perfectly, that's not how forums work. Not for educated people that "get it" anyway. Okay, I'm done with you, sorry I even jumped in and started, you have no interest in truth, you just like to nit-pick. I'll save my comments for the those that know how to work forums. ( oh, I'm rolling my eyes here in case you want to know that too)

: 11/4/2009

Christie supporters are such hypocrites..."Let's all support him" --- why don't you lend that same support to Obama, which you never did! I for one will lend my support until I feel he isn't doing a good job.

J.Q.

: 11/4/2009

J.Q. If you are supportive Of Obama's direction he wants to take this country in thats your prerogative, support him all you want. Many people including myself do not like the direction Obama is taking this country in and his far left position of governing. He has surrounded himself with far left radicals and he along with them want to change this country into thie vision of what they think it should be. I am tired of him apoligizing to foreign countries for the U.S.. We owe no apoligies to anyone. Obama does not like this country and for what it stands. I cannot not support him and I am very concerned what he is doing to our country.

Lori C

: 11/5/2009

So 11/4/09 was offended by bringing up W's history of drug and alcohol abuse. Okay I agree it hopefully is past tense. But reality is that it's part of his history. You cannot take it away from him. hows does that saying go,something like, "you cannot take the stripes off of a tiger." Some of my closest and dearest friends are recovering cross-addicts, I love them and support them. I would never-ever give them the keys to my house, let alone the keys to the White House. You can sugarcoat his record on America all you want, but it will always taste bitter to common Americans(the true Americans, the tax payers, the people who love America more that their political affiliation). For 8 years, Rove/Bush/Cheney fed America bullcrap and called it "patriotism,"the end result is that it still tased the same!

: 11/5/2009

Obama surrounds himself with radicals Lori? What would be better in your world, surrounding himself with loony, tea bagger whack-jobs like Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Cheney because they "aren't" radicals? Wake up.

: 11/5/2009

An idiot wrote [Quote]"Obama surrounds himself with radicals Lori? What would be better in your world, surrounding himself with loony, tea bagger whack-jobs like Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Cheney because they "aren't" radicals? Wake up." Well idiot, at least they never killed anyone like Obamas homeboy:William Charles "Bill" Ayers (born December 26, 1944)[1] is an American elementary education theorist and a former leader in the movement that opposed U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He is known for the radical nature of his 1960's activism as well as his current work in education reform, curriculum, and instruction. In 1969 he co-founded the Weather Underground, a communist revolutionary group that conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings during the 1960s and 1970s motivated by US involvement in the Vietnam War. He is now a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar.[2] During the 2008 Presidential campaign, a controversy arose over his past contacts with candidate Barack Obama. YOU WAKE UP SONNY !!

: 11/5/2009

YOU ARE WHO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH !!

: 11/5/2009

Ayers never killed anyone. Get your facts straight..wait, you are conservative so that won't happen

J.Q.

: 11/5/2009

Eye roller, sounds to me like you have some anger issues. Why can't people express their free speech without being called names. Let's all grow up people! Libs worship Obama, and Conservatives embrace their values and beliefs that stem from the establishment of this nation. By the way, Jeremiah Wright isn't exactly a the best person to associate oneself with!

: 11/5/2009

Conservatives have "values"? That is priceless! Oh my, I can't stop laughing. Thank you, thank you, I needed that laugh today. Oh, my stomach hurts now. It's all good.

: 11/5/2009

As an independent I am getting some significant chuckles reading these posts. Conservatives want people to support Christie while at the same time deriding Obama. Someone posted that Christie after 10 months is not the same as Obama after 10 months. True enough but then Christie does not have to deal with the national and global issues. Then I saw a post that indicates if Christie does not succeed it is because of the liberals in Trenton (kind of like making an excuse in advance). Well, I view it this simple way. I have a printout of all of Christie's campaign promises, just as I have with Obama. I do not care what party they are affiliated with, I just want RESULTS. NO excuses from either one. However, I am first and foremost interested in my life in NJ as opposed to the national scene. So, let's all wait for the positive results...

High taxes in Vernon

: 11/5/2009

I cannot believe people believe Obama hates this country. Just because he has a different view, doesn't mean he hates it. Perhaps he doesn't embrace your specific values, but that does not make him unpatriotic. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Stop spewing erroneous things about Obama and stick the truth.

J.Q.

: 11/5/2009

Has anyone noticed the dived between us is becoming greater and continues to grow. Like I have said 10 months ago Obama the community organizer is a country disorganizer. We are no longer a one nation under God. Look at the poll at the top of the page 185 votes it's getting worse. 153 votes for smoke and mirrors. Are nation is failing, agree or disagree look at the facts.

imright

: 11/5/2009

JQ WROTE:[QUOTE] "Ayers never killed anyone. Get your facts straight..wait, you are conservative so that won't happen" Guilt by association ! just like your "anointed one" BARRY ..The 'Weathermen', a group which Bill Ayers was a member and about which he remains unrepentant to this day, murdered four people. They (Weathermen Cathy Wilkerson and Susan Saxe) were part of the gang that shot Boston policeman Walter Schroeder in the back during a bank robbery in Brighton (a section of Boston) Massachusetts in 1970. He died after attempts to save him that included giving him 77 pints of blood (source -Harvard Crimson). They also murdered Brinks guard Peter Paige, police officers Edward O'Grady and Waverly Brown in Nanuet, NY in 1981. Paige was gunned down with automatic weapons as he emerged from a bank carrying the cash. O'Grady and Brown were killed with a barrage of automatic weapon fire after they pulled over the getaway vehicle containing three Weathermen, Chris Dobbs, Samuel Brown and Judith Alice Clark. All charges against Ayers for crimes as a 'Weatherman' were dropped. Source; Harvard Crimson I was there for O'Grady and Brown ! You GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT YOU SPOILED LITTLE LIBITARD TURD!

: 11/5/2009

"You GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT YOU SPOILED LITTLE LIBITARD TURD!" --- so much for no more name calling. Look, tough guy, if you are saying Ayers is responsible because of guilt by association, are you implying that since Obama is apparently "guilty of associating with Ayers" that Obama is responsible for these murders too? Your logic is all twisted and wrong. You can continue to distort, but you will still be wrong. Also, IMRIGHT, the nation was even more divided under Bush. Don't try to pin this one of Obama. The divisions were very clear due to Bush, NOT Obama.

J.Q. ...It's funny how united this nation was on 9/12/01. What changed that? You seem to know everything, so please tell me why this country has become so divided. Go ahead and blame Bush. That's all the liberals know how to do. Sad. It's funny how the democrats can criticize him, but don't anybody dare question Obama! Why is that? By the way, I've not once used the "name calling" tactic.

Amen

: 11/5/2009

I do not mind legit criticism of Obama. However, crap like Obama is not a citizen or Obama hates this country is why I am challenge your statements. Many do not stick to the facts and are truly obscured from the truth by people like Beck, Hannity, & Limbaugh.

You lied Mr President. We now have over 10% unemployed in this country. Too busy playing golf Mr President. You lied.

Folks, your partisanship is showing. Some pray at the altar of the democrats/Obama and some pray at the altar of the republicans/Bush. So, tell me which of those two has done anything positive for US!!! Was the invasion of Iraq worth a trillion dollars and the loss of 4500 American troops. Is Afghanistan beyond help because of inaction for 6 years? Is health care reform going to bankrupt America? Will all that money pulled out of Medicare increase the risks to seniors? Can Obama get off the dime and make some decisions? Now, with that said, Bush is no longer in office. The democrats have majorities in house and senate. So, if NOTHING positive happens we can correctly blame the democrats. In the next elections I expect to see the republicans take control back and then we shall see what they can do. UNFORTUNATELY, as evidenced by posts on this list, PARTY takes precedent over COUNTRY. I do not care who is in control. I just want America back again!!!!!

In regard to the Fort Hood tragedy........ Saturday, July 11, 2009 Obama appoints 2 devout Muslims to homeland security Arif Alikhan as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development Source for announcement: Homeland Security Press Room "Today, I am proud to make two key personnel announcements for the U.S.. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) President Obama’s intent to nominate David Heyman as Assistant Secretary for=2 0Policy and my appointment of Arif Alikhan as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development.. Arif comes from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa’s office, where he served as Deputy Mayor for Homeland Security and Public Safety. As a key adviser to the Mayor, he has led the City’s efforts to develop homeland security, emergency management and law enforcement initiatives, including operational oversight of Los Angeles Police, Fire a nd Emergency Management departments." said Secretary Janet Napolitano The Islamic loving Obama has appointed Arif Alikhan a devout Sunni Muslim to assistant secretary for the Office of Policy Department of Homeland Security.. Mr. Alikhan was instrumental in taking down the LA Police Department's plan to monitor it's Muslim community. Alikhan is affiliated with MPAC, the "Muslim Public Affairs Council". "Founded in 1988, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) describes itself as "a public service agency working for the civil rights of American Muslims, for the integration of Islam into American pluralism, and for a positive, constructive relationship between American Muslims and their representatives." The organization consists of eight chapters in California, and one each in Texas, Kansas, Nevada, and Iowa." From its inception, MPAC presented itself20as more inclusive, and more open to peaceful coexistence with Jews and Christians, than other Arab and Muslim groups, and sought to make Americans comfortable with Islam by showing how much the religion embraced core American values. However, looking deeper into this group: MPAC's Senior Advisor, Maher Hathout, who has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and espouses the radical brand of Islam known as Wahhabism, was invited to address the Democratic Convention in Los Angeles in 2000. MPAC's centrist public image unraveled after the September 2000 launching of the Second Palestinian Intifada, when the Council severed its ties to the Jewish community and issued one-sided condemnations of Israel's response to the Arab violence. This group actively opposed Bush's military incursions into Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as his "excesses" in the war on terror. In February 2003, MPAC joined the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the American Muslim Council, and the American Muslim Alliance in forming a coalition to repeal and amend the Patriot Act, which these organizations depicted as an assault on the civil liberties of Americans, particularly Muslims. MPAC claims that Islam is a religion of peace and moderation, and contends that Muslim extremists are no more numerous or dangerous than fundamentalists in any other faith. Holding Israel entirely responsible for the "pattern of violence" in the Middle East, MPAC asserts that Hezbollah "could be called a liberation movement." The Council likens Hezbollah members to American "freedom fighters hundreds of years ago whom the British regarded as terrorists." These are the the people our president trusts ??? God help us !

In response to the post above, I am not going to get into this hysteria. You people are extremely polarized and sick people. You guys are so partisan, it is ridiculous.

So some say Obama has not divided this country? Just look at the vitriol on this post page - it's not divided? If Obama truly loved this country he would be following the US Constitution, but no, he ignores this founding document and is creating his own left-winged, marxist radical government. It's sad...it appears that anyone 40 yrs plus know what's really going on w/Obama. The rest of you have, unfortunately, been indoctrinated already. After you've worked for several years, busted your butts, bought a house, got married, had kids, busted your butts again only to have some radical want to 'redistribute your wealth' because it's for the 'good of the people', then, and only then, can you relate to the rest of us independents and conservatives. I don't want to share my money w/anyone and don't want to forced to. I will donate my monies to those in need - not to those who constantly suck out the breath and money from the rest of us. This is what's called the 'have and have nots'. Victims, always a victim. The Obama's, Sharpton's, Jackson's, Wright's, Rengle's of the world wouldn't have anything to do if it wasn't for their own 'victims'. Get it?

J.Q., I'll give you Limbaugh...But I don't think that Beck and Hannity are far out there. Sure, they have strong personalities (for ratings purposes). They DO offer facts, though. Perhaps not what their supporters necessarily want to hear! The fact is, Obama has yet to prove that we are headed on the right road to recovery. Just ask those individuals that have mortgage pmts and families to feed! Our freedom and liberties are being ripped right out from under our feet! Obama, Pelosi, and the rest of the gang better shape up! They have managed to destroy their own party!!!

: 11/6/2009

How have they managed to destroy their own party? They just won a Congressional seat in NY which a dem hasn't won in over 100 years!

J.Q.

: 11/6/2009

What people need to remember about people like Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and the rest, they are opinion personalities. They are not professional news people that dig for facts and report in an unbiased manner. They got shows because they hell the loudest and talk about things that real reporters can't because of ethics. Not everything they say is based on truth and backed up with facts. They take a topic and say their "opinion" about it, sometimes with truth but most of the time with bias that's over the top just for ratings. To trust in them and take their word that everything is just like they preach is well, naive at best.

It should be very clear to folks living in the United States that liberalism is a disease and it is contagious. Additionally, the move towards socialism will further stifle the greatest nation in the history of Mankind; The United States of America and slowly drown it in a red sea of political correctness. Some folks brag about being a liberal, but in essence they are bragging about causing the downfall of America and preventing this country from reaching its full potential. What a shame that these folks simply follow the purported wisdom of the liberal slanted mass media. What a shame that these people would work to destroy all we are and all we have built. What a shame that these folks would forsake the blood, sweat and tears of generations and piss it away, as if all this magically appeared out of the blue. Not only should we resist the falsehoods brought forth by liberals, we must cure this disease. If not more will fall victim to this virus and it will continue to spread around the world rendering entire nation's populations as ineffectual, inefficient and incompetent.

: 11/6/2009

By calling liberalism a disease, I guess that makes conservatism an incurable cancer. If you look at history over the course of hundreds of years, there have been attempts to label liberalism a disease. For example, slavery. People believed that freeing slaves would bring the downfall of this country due to liberals. Then look at the red scare. Those who were liberal and protested against the government were somehow unpatriotic and unamerican. Liberals bring the needed change in this country. If there was conservatives, slavery would be in existence, no doubt about it. Conservatives hate change despite it being really needed sometimes. Liberals should be thanked for the work they have done to defeat the canerous conservatives. (Please note I am being facetious (look up the word for you illiterate people on this board) about conservatives being cancerous - just used to demonstrate a point to this pinhead)

How have they managed to destroy their party? They can't even get Healthcare reform right!!! Obama can't make a decision about sending more troops to Afghanistan! Oh, and I thought that Gitmo was going to close by the end of the year?! And let's look at Virginia and New Jersey. New Jersey is probably one of the bluest states on the map...but we just elected a Republican for governor!

: 11/6/2009

The Republican party is much more disorganized then the Dem. party. The NJ election was about people hating Corzine (he had a 33% approval rating), not Obama. Stop trying to spin things around.

JQ... sure looks like a downfall in this country to me! Damn Liberal change.

Having a vision of AFFORDABLE healthcare for ALL Americans is a vision, a goal, a possitive for all AMERICANS, not just the CEOs and shareholders. Regressives are so affraid of change that they will bite the hand that is feeding them. Someone stated that, "they cannot even get healthcare right." I can only respond - NOT YET! At the very least, it has been discussed, debated, revised, improved, disected, ridiculed, touted, scorned, acclaimed, lied about and clarified constantly for several months now. This is a major first for our country and it's peoples. Healtcare has been an issue for this country since the 1930's and I honestly, hopefully see AMERICAN healthcare progressing. I am personally a good example. In 2007, I was victomized by a failing economy and unemployed. I worked on my own and BOUGHT my United Healthcare Policy for $421.00 per month, until the Cobra limit was reached. I then tried to purchase United Healthcare on my own with-out Cobra. I was declined because I have a so called "pre-existing" condition, which by the way my doctor for the last 19 years tells me does not require any medicine, no special diet, no special therapy or monitoring. Blue Cross/Blue Shield also declived covering me. Then I must have had a miracle cure, because after I was fortunate enough to attain a position with a major corporation, United Healthcare will now cover me if I contribute $86.00 per month. GOD does work in mysterious ways, doesn't HE? For America's eternity, the healthcare system has had the opportunity to allow healthcare competition to regulate itself, and it has! It has regulated itself into everyone deepest pocket. While American's were bugeting, cutting back and digging into their savings, BIG HEALTH has been quadrupling their profits and raising their premiums on those fortunate enough to be able to attain it. It's time their free reign on capitalizing on ordinary AMERICANs is governed. We have speed limits on legal automobiles, we have limits to allowable weapons for ordinary citizens, we have limits on allowable abuse to our spouses and neighbors. We do not view these limits as negative. Stopping corrupt CEO's from capitalizing on AMERICAN's health needs is not negative as well. I hope and pray that the Congress and Senate can come to an agrrement on a incorporating an AFFORDABLE healthcare plan for all AMERICANS and that Obama signs it into law. The sooner the better from my perspective, I would enjoy knowing that all my family and neighbors have healthcare coverage!

: 11/7/2009

I concur with the comment above this. My own question is how do you know God is a He and not a She? :)

: 11/7/2009

Excellent post "Having a vision..." Health care for EVERY American should be a RIGHT not a privilege!!

: 11/7/2009

The Obamacare bill, Healthcare bill, or whatever you call it has nothing to do with healthcare - NOTHING! It's all about controlling our lives...what we eat, drink, smoke, drive, religion, type of work, type of sports we participate in, how many calories we consume, what our credit rating is, etc.. It's all about controlling every aspect of our lives. Good luck if you have pre-existing conditions or any type of serious illness. Hope you libs like waiting in line at the DMV, Post Office, Unemployment, etc. etc. etc....because it will be the same long line with Obamacare. Oh by the way, it's an EXPANDED MEDICAID system people!
