DOVER, Del. -- Douglas C. Kistle and Mary E. Kistle, of Smyrna, Del., formerly of Franklin, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Roma Restaurant. The celebration was hosted by their children.

Mary E. Carlin and Douglas C. Kistle were married Sept. 26, 1959, at Immaculate Conception Parish in Franklin.

Mamie and Doug were Franklin High School sweethearts. Mary worked for more than 10 years at Morley's Shirt factory. Doug was a manager at Howmet Corporation. Upon his retirement, he was elected mayor of Franklin, and served one full term. Fighting for a better community was always Doug's goal. He always had an open door policy and tried to bring a spirit of unity to the town.

The couple lived all their married life on Davis Road until Sept. 23, when they moved to Smyrna to be nearer to their grandchildren. They are parishioners of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Dover, Del.

They have three children, Douglas L. Kistle, of Denver, Colo., Karen Kistle Bennet, of Centennial, Colo., and Donna Kistle Latteri, of Magnolia, Del. They have six
grandchildren.
