NEWTON -- Karol and Joseph Verkon announce the engagement of their son, Jonathan Verkon, of Newton, to Cheryl Bernroth, also of Newton. She is the daughter of Del Bernroth, of Warwick, N.Y., and the late Kenneth Bernroth.

Her fiance is a 1996 graduate of Newton High School. He works for the Lafayette DPW.

The couple plans to wed in June 2010 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church.
