HUBERT, N.C. -- Shaina Renee Ward and Donald Nicholas Liu were united in marriage Saturday, July 18. An outdoor ceremony took place at the home of the bride's mother. Pastor Mike Wilkerson officiated. A reception for 100 friends and relatives followed.
Carla Ward, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Emily Gupton and Krystal Gupton, also sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. Skylar Gupton, niece of the bride, was the flower girl.
The best man was Andrew Liu, brother of the groom. Josh Fouts, Dave Collasen and Read Merry served as groomsmen.
The bride is the daughter of Amy Gupton, of Hubert, and David Ward, of Newport, N.C. She is a graduate of Croatan High School in Newport and is working toward a registered nurse degree. She is employed as a medical technician at Carebridge Assisted Living Center in Jacksonville, N.C.
The groom is the son of Don and Theresa Liu, of Wantage. He is a graduate of High Point Regional High School and is in his third year of serving as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps with 1st Battalion 9th Marines Division at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville. He has served one tour in Iraq and is due to re-deploy in the near future.
After a honeymoon at Harbor Lights in Cape Carteret, N.C., the couple is residing in Hubert.
