LAFAYETTE — On Thursday, Sept. 10, hundreds of thousands of people across the globe will join Silent Unity, an international and transdenominational prayer ministry, and Unity churches around the world in a sacred partnership of prayer — the 16th annual World Day of Prayer. This event has traditionally been held on the second Thursday of September.
Many of the approximately 900 Unity Churches and study groups around the world will host World Day of Prayer interfaith events, including Unity Church of Sussex County, located at 25 Mudcut Road (973-383-6277). A prayer and meditation service will be held at noon and again at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
World Day of Prayer is an interfaith event open to people of all faiths and all walks of life. For more information, visit www.worlddayofprayer.org.
Minisink Reformed Church upcoming events MONTAGUE — The Minisink Reformed Church will host its annual auction Saturday, Sept. 26, at the church pavilion, located next to the main entrance of High Point Country Club, at 300 Clove Road. A preview will take place at 9:30 a.m.
The church’s fall rummage sale will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1. and on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Items will be accepted for donation for both items from Sept. 6 through Sept. 25, or by calling (973) 293-3514 or (973) 222-8904 to set up a delivery time. Do not leave items at the church pavilion. The church is unable to accept exercise equipment, computers, electronics or large furniture.

Blessing of the Children scheduled for Sunday SUSSEX BOROUGH — New Kid Ministries of Stockholm will hold a Blessing of the Children service from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sussex Grange Hall on Route 284 (East Main Street). Children of all ages are welcome. Ministers will be on hand to pray over the children for the Lord’s covering during the upcoming school year.
The event is free and refreshments and goodies for the kids will be available.

Sparta church welcomes new youth ministry chief SPARTA — Sparta United Methodist Church welcomes Matt Querns, its new youth ministry director. Querns is a recent graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, where he focused on youth ministry and Christian history.
Three youth groups are planned for the fall: • The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (Grades 9 to 12) will meet twice a month. High school events will include the RISE trip in July, Ocean City Youth Weekend in the fall and a variety of activities with other church youth groups at the district and conference level. • The Junior Youth Fellowship (Grades 6 to 8) will meet twice a month. Members are invited to participate in confirmation. • The Intermediate Youth Fellowship (Grades 4 and 5) will meet once a month. A kick-off pool party for the three youth groups is planned for Sunday at Aldersgate Center. Matt will be preaching at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services at the Sparta United Methodist Church, 71 Sparta Ave., the same day.
