Jamie Pawlick, a freshman at Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pa., has been accepted into the Lycoming Scholars Program, designed to meet the needs of students with superior intellectual ability. Scholars are admitted to the program based on high school achievement, and must complete higher-level distribution courses, as well as an independent project during their junior or senior year. For the fall semester, the scholars will study the issue of war in a seminar led by Lycoming faculty and featured speakers from other colleges. Pawlick is a resident of Oak Ridge and a graduate of Jefferson Township High School.
Michael Chemis, a first-year student at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa., was one of more than 600 students, faculty and staff who participated in Susquehanna University: Get Into Volunteer Experiences in August. Participants lent their efforts at 40 volunteer project sites in the local community. Chemis is a graduate of Sparta Township High School and the son of Daniel and Dawn Chemis.
