HARDYSTON/VERNON — The Crystal Springs Resort is hosting a high school photography contest. The resort has invited surrounding high schools to participate in a contest with a grand prize of a $500 scholarship courtesy of Crystal Springs. The students are encouraged to use the landscaping of the resort to capture the breathtaking fall foliage. Students are welcome to come and photograph the resort at any time and faculty is invited to plan student trips. Sparta High School, recently brought a group of 34 upper level photography students to Minerals Resort & Spa and Grand Cascades Lodge to photograph the grounds. The students were led on a guided hike with a mountaintop lunch — both the guide and the boxed lunches were provided courtesy of Crystal Springs Resort — followed by time to photograph both properties. The Crystal Springs Resort Photography Contest is open to all students in the surrounding areas. Submitted photos must have been taken after Jan. 1, 2009, and the subject matter should be Crystal Springs Resort in Hardyston and Vernon. Photos can be of architecture, golf courses, spas, landscaping, or any other feature of the resort. Cameras used may be digital or traditional. The grand prize award will be a $500 scholarship to the winning student as well as having his or her photograph spotlighted online and in an e-mail broadcast with photo credit to the student. Additional prizes will be given away for specific categories such as best scenic shot, best golf course shot, best architecture and more with prizes including gift certificates for dining, spa, golf and more to the many properties at Crystal Springs Resort. Total awarded prizes will value over $1,000. All photos may be submitted via e-mail to Natasha Wright – Public Relations Manager – nwright@crystalgolfresort.com or to the Crystal Springs Resort Administration Building, 3621 Route 94, Hardyston, NJ by Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. Only one prize will be permitted for each contestant. Contestants may enter multiple photos. Students may also submit ready-to-hang photos with an accompanying digital disk or negative to have their photos displayed in the lobby of Minerals Resort & Spa for a Photography Show that will be hosted in December. All inquiries may be directed to Natasha Wright at (973) 823-6678 or via e-mail nwright@crystalgolfresort.com.
